SPRINTER NICK RECOVERS TO TAKE SPRINT TITLE AT KENMORE writes SHANE FENTON

A good crowd gathered on the shores of Loch Tay for Highland Games' only evening meeting of the season at picturesque Kenmore on Wednesday [July 7th].

They were treated to some thrills and spills, Glenrothes sprinter Nick Mitchell had to be treated by the first-aid attendants after failing to pull up in time before hitting the perimeter fence in the run out from his 90 metres heat.

The injury sustained failed to deter the Fifer and he went on to claim victory in the final touching off Jack Beattie Rosyth with Lee Notman Hawick and former New Year Sprint winner Cumbie Bowers Glenrothes in third and fourth places repectively.

In the Youth's events the highlight was a double by the highly ranked Scottish age-group jumper Douglas Paul Falkirk Victoria who won both the 90 metres and 400 metres from the backmark.
