JUMPS RECORDS REMAIN INTACT AT MULL writes Shane Fenton

Despite good monetary incentive's all three jump records at the Mull Highland Games remain intact.

The park at Tobermory is usually one of the best surfaces on the circuit for the jumpers however hours of rain prior to the event had softened the ground.

Nevertheless there were some good performances, 16 year old Inverness Harrier Connell McDonald looks to have a bright future in the High Jump, his leap of 6' 1'' if my calculations are correct was higher than his Power 10 PB of 1.83m.
His win won him £100, however he was 2.5 inches short of breaking Jay Scott's 1955 record of 6' 3.5'' which would have doubled the prize money.

Tony Daffurn, Kilbarchan did the Long and Trilple Jump double, his jump of 22' 00'' in the long jump edged out Scotland's leading 110 metre hurdler Allan Scott by 4.5'' with David Watson, Kilbarchan 3rd with a jump of 21' 5''.
Willie McLellan holds the record at 22' 11'' set in 1968.

David Watson holds the ground record in the Triple Jump at 49' 4'' but had to settle for 2nd place on this occasion behind Tony Daffrun who won with a jump of 46' 5'5''.
