Increased prize money and prizes at Blackford.

INCREASED PRIZE MONEY & PRIZES AT BLACKFORD writes Shane Fenton

The first SHGA meeting of the season with running and jumping events takes place at Blackford on Saturday 27th May.

And a boost to the competitors is that the organisers have increased prize money and prizes as well as adding another jumping event.

In recent years the running events had only the four prizes, this year however there will be six, with all the placed prize money increased.

Last year the games staged High Jump and Long jump competitions for the first time. They proved to be  a success and this year Triple Jump has been added to the programme.

For youth athletes there is a 90m, 200m and 800m.

Entries for track events close this Sunday 21st May with handicapper Adam Crawford. With it being the first games of the season for the runners and jumpers it's a games the athletes very much look forward to. 2017 New Year Sprint winner Greg Kelly is among the entries so far.

Early season league points, which could be crucial at the end of the season are also up for grabs in all events.
