TUG o WAR ROUND UP 2014

Tug o war round up for 2014 season

Although a disappointing year with the fewest numbers of teams competing there was never the less some terrific tug o war this season particularly between fierce rivals Mount Blair and Strathardle both teams were out most weekends and quite a few midweek fixtures as well.

When the dust had settled Mount Blair emerged victorious but the results do not tell the complete story of a season littered with 2-1 scorelines.

Elgin always a strong team of the past are going through a period of change and we hope to see a lot more of them back on the circuit for 2015.

Moffat always a strong team proved to be a force to be reckoned at any games they attended and again it will be good to see more of them in 2015.

Cornhill as always are the team to beat at weighted events and are just as good as ever.

It was disappointing not to see the big open North teams such as Inverness and the Great glen at the open championships maybe next year lads?

Cawdor have struggled for numbers the same as the rest of the teams and only managed a few events this year, a shame as this has always been a team packed with promising pullers.

As mentioned before the season has been littered with some great pulling right up to Pitlochry where the Perthshire league was decided but again it took three ends to do this with Mount Blair taking the title.

Because of the disappointing turn outs this season a meeting of SHGA officials and team members from both professional and Amateur tug o war met in Newtonmore to discuss how we can improve the situation.

The meeting was well attended and we had promising dialogue.
