BUSY WEEKEND IN PROSPECT writes Shane Fenton.

It's all set to be another busy weekend on the Scottish Games circuit.

Saturday's Helensburgh & Lomond Games stage the first SHGA Scottish track championships of the new season, the two titles which are up for grabs are the 90 metres and 200 metres, both have attracted good fields. There is also a full supporting programme of Open and Youth races as well as a hill race.
The highlight for the throwers is the Scottish 22lb Shot Putt Championship.
The Helensburgh meeting takes place at the Rugby Grounds, Ardencaple.

Cornhill Games which also takes place on Saturday sees the opening round of the Glenfiddich Grampian Games Championship, this is also the first meeting of the season for the jumpers. Cornhill Playing Field is the venue.

There is another big meeting on Sunday at Glamis Castle where the Strathmore Games take place. There is a full athletics and cycling programme, the athletes have races over 90m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1600m and 3200 metres with Youth handicaps over 90m and 1600m.
A good field is anticipated for the heavy events, the games also stage the British Tug o War Championship.
